Two charged in northwest Charlotte homicide from one year ago

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged two people with the murder of a man in northwest Charlotte that happened almost one year ago.

Officers said 31-year-old Daniel Vergara was found lying on the road near Valcourt Road just after 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2020.

Vergara was taken to the hospital where he died two days later.

Police have now charged Trinity Thompson and Zavia Jeter for the murder. Both suspects have been transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

They have been charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
