CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified the victim in a homicide that happened Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the Arcadia apartments on Falling Waters Court in northeast Charlotte at about 10 p.m. It was about a physical assault.

They said Justice Timmons, 25, died but didn’t say how. A source told Channel 9 the victim is not affiliated with nearby UNC Charlotte.

“So I was on my way home actually and I was alarmed when I seen a bunch of cop cars and a bunch of people outside,” resident Isaiah Garnes told Channel 9 Friday.

UNC Charlotte student Dylan Fuller said he has lived at Arcadia for three years and is worried.

“I consider myself a cautious person, but I’m definitely going to make sure doors are locked,” Fuller said.

Police have not announced any arrests or suspect information.

“I’m a student myself and I go to UNCC,” said student Luciana Solano. “You always want to have a safe space to study in, to live in.”

Residents said they would like to hear more from apartment management.

“A lot of people aren’t happy about it,” said resident Raven Morgan, who wants to hear from management about what happened or what to do.
