CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police told Channel 9 they are trying to find a group of suspects who they said drove around uptown Charlotte overnight and robbed three people.

Police said the first victim was robbed at gunpoint at the light rail station on Camden Road in South End by two suspects who stole her purse. They jumped into a dark-colored sedan driven by a third person and drove off.

The woman was not hurt.

Police said there is video that may show the suspects on that platform and it may be released later Monday afternoon.

About an hour later, police said a man and a woman were robbed at gunpoint near the Greyhound Station on Wilkes Place by two men matching the same description as the first crime.

Police said the suspects fired one shot near one of the victim's heads but she was not hurt.

Officers said the men again got into a dark-colored sedan and sped off.

One victim, Marlon Carraway, told Channel 9 he was walking his friend to her car in the parking lot around 12:30 a.m. when the suspects came out of nowhere and robbed them.

Carraway said he didn't see the suspects until they were behind him with guns. He and his friend did not resist and the suspects took their wallets and a cellphone, among other things.

Carraway said it all happened so fast that he never even had time to consider fighting back.

“No, it shouldn't happen to anybody but you know, things happen,” he said. “It's one of those things I guess. I'm just happy to have my life. I mean, that's all that matters.”
