CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified the body found at McAlpine Creek Park in southeast Charlotte as a missing 73-year-old man.
William Brewer Bobbitt was reported missing Monday after being last seen on Summer Walk Drive.

On Wednesday, police said they were searching the park when they found Bobbitt’s body.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene, where police could be seen just off the McAlpine Creek Greenway Trail around 3:15 p.m. There were several police cars, fire trucks and a drive team in the area.
Authorities said there were no signs of foul play and that they are working to determine the cause of death.
No other details have been released.
