Arrest made 2 days after man found shot to death near west Charlotte gas station

CHARLOTTE — Police have arrested the man they said shot and killed another man late Wednesday in west Charlotte.

Channel 9 crews were on the scene along Beatties Ford Road, just north of Hoskins Road, shortly after 10:30 p.m. and could see dozens of officers and crime scene tape around the Citgo gas station.

Thursday, detectives said the victim, 21-year-old Davyon Jermaine Farrer, was shot several times. Police told Channel 9 they don’t believe this was a random attack.

On Friday, police said they had arrested and charged 36-year-old Dejanarell Markes Cherry with murder. He is also facing charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators have not released a motive in the shooting.
