CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police were investigating a multi-car crash involving a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police cruiser early Thursday morning in south Charlotte.
The wreck happened just after 6 a.m. on the on ramp from Arrowood Road to northbound Interstate 77.
Three vehicles were involved in the collision and Channel 9 could see that one of them was a CMPD cruiser.
Authorities told Channel 9 that the officer was responding to a robbery call when his cruiser hit two other cars.
The officer and the drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The cruiser was loaded onto a flatbed and towed away with heavy front-end damage.
