CHARLOTTE — There have been three women in Charlotte who were killed since Friday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police stated. The homicides are not connected, police said.

CMPD detectives started conducting its first homicide investigation of the weekend Friday afternoon in northwest Charlotte.

At about 5:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Clydesdale Terrace and Carol Avenue, which is near Tuckaseegee Road.

On Monday, police identified the victim as 35-year-old Markelia Jenilla Young. No arrest information or further details have been released.

Young’s slaying was Charlotte’s third reported homicide over the last three days.

This week is important for MOMO. It has been one year since the group’s founder Judy Williams passed away.

MOMO and members of the community will remember Williams on Saturday at Marshal Park in uptown.

“We’re gonna remember Miss Judy’s legacy,” Crawford said. “That even though she’s gone, her mission and her vision and her purpose for this organization still lives on.”

MOMO has helped 2219 families through the years.

“We’re gonna remember the victims of all the families we’ve served since MOMO was created,” Crawford said.
