CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has upgraded an death investigation to a homicide case.
Police said Sunday they were investigating someone’s death around 1:30 p.m. in south Charlotte. Officers were called to the 5500 block of Werburgh Street near Park Road at Tyvola Road.

The homicide unit was also called to the scene as part of the department’s protocol.
CMPD hasn’t released the victim’s identity or cause of death.
On Tuesday, police said they were investigating the case as a homicide after they consulted with the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office.
