CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Family members are begging someone to come forward with information regarding the death of a man in west Charlotte.
Police said they responded to a call at an apartment complex on Forestbook Drive around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Ariel Brown said it was her cousin who was found dead.
Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Jermaine Moore.
Authorities have not released any information about how Moore died, only that they are investigating Charlotte’s fifth homicide of the year.
“It’s been real difficult,” Brown said. “We lost another family member a few years ago to gun violence and now it’s happening again. If you know something, please say something.”
Police said they do not have any suspects at this time, but they are interviewing neighbors and investigating the area for clues.
Brown told Channel 9 they are desperate to know how and why her cousin was killed.
“Something has to be done. We got to do better,” she said. “We can’t keep burying our family members.”
“We’re trying to figure out exactly what happened and who is involved,” said Brad Koch, with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Family members told Channel 9 that the victim’s mother was home at the time.
“She’s doing as well as can be expected,” Brown said.
A neighbor said violent crime in her neighborhood has become too common.
“You go to sleep to gunshots,” Chelsea Alvarez said. “Pretty much every night, you hear them.”
CMPD recently released their numbers, showing overall crime was down across Charlotte in 2018, including homicides, 35 percent lower than 2017.
“We had one at this time last year, so we’re working as hard as we can,” Koch said.
