CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, with the help of Greensboro police, have arrested and charged a suspect after a woman was found killed in a Steele Creek home.
Police said the woman's boyfriend, 31-year-old Deshawn Lamont Clipper, was arrested by Greensboro, North Carolina police and charged with murder.
Officials said the CMPD Homicide Unit will be traveling to Guilford County to interview Clipper.
Clipper is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday.

CMPD officers were called around 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the house on Black Chestnut Place in the Steele Creek area to conduct a welfare check.
When police arrived they said they found 35-year-old Stephanie Potts dead inside the home.
"When officers arrived, unfortunately, they found her dead, and it was readily apparent she was the victim of a homicide," CMPD Capt. Chris Dozier said.
Detectives have not said yet how Potts died or who called 911.
Police told Channel 9 they believe the crime was an isolated incident and it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
"There was a previous incident that was reported to the police in which Miss Potts alleged that Mr. Clipper assaulted her,” Dozier said. “He was arrested for that, so there is a pattern here.”
Police said Clipper had assaulted Potts before.
A neighbor said she saw police take three children out of the house just moments after officers with their guns drawn surrounded the area.
"And then, they started running with their guns drawn," the neighbor said. "Three went in the front, four went in the back, so they like swarmed the house."
One of Potts' friends told Channel 9 how upset she is it all ended this way.
"Who do I blame for this, I know who to blame and he'll be dealt with," friend Tiffany Lee said.
Those who knew Potts said she would do anything for her three children.
“She missed out on a lot of things she didn't have to, because she was always working hard for her family," Lee said.
Potts' three children who are four, 13, and 17 years old are staying with other family members.
