CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police in Charlotte said they are closer to enforcing new harsh restrictions on suspected members of the Hidden Valley Kings gang.
Last week, a Superior Court judge signed an order making it a crime for nearly two dozen alleged members of the Hidden Valley Kings to associate with each other or carry weapons.
Police said it will help them disrupt the gang's activities.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's gang unit spent the day tracking down 20 men named in the court injunction, in order to serve them with copies of the judge's ruling.
At the same time, police said they're in the process of educating officers who work in the area about how to enforce the injunction and who is covered by it.
Once all of those named in the ruling have been served with the court paperwork, police will begin watching the activities of suspected Hidden Valley Kings members.
Violating the court injunction would be a misdemeanor.
