SWAT situation ends in east Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police’s SWAT team took one person into custody Friday after a standoff shut down a busy east Charlotte road.

Officers shut down Harris Boulevard in both directions near Sharon Amity Road while Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) tried to find the suspect.

They took the person into custody without incident.

Police haven’t released the person’s name or why they were looking for the suspect.
