CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a man accused of robbing a north Charlotte gas station and shooting a customer.
Officers told Channel 9 that it all happened just before 3 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on West Sugar Creek Road near Regan Drive.
Investigators said the suspect, 31-year-old Karvon Hart, held up the convenience store and fire a round into the ground, which ricocheted and struck a female customer in the leg.
That woman will be OK.
Channel 9 spoke with the mother of the store clerk, who said this wasn’t the first time her son has been put in a dangerous situation.
"He's got to find another job, this is too much,” said Cassandra Watkins. “This is the second incident that happened on Sugar Creek. He used to work across the street at Bojangles and a customer came in with a gun. It's too much."
Hart ran off but police caught him nearly an hour later at a nearby Economy Inn.
