CMPD Animal Care seeking people to temporarily foster animals after holiday weekend

CHARLOTTE — With the holiday weekend closing the CMPD Animal Care and Adoption Center for an extra day, the shelter is seeking your help in temporarily fostering animals as a day closed on Labor Day means a day without moving dogs into homes.

The shelter expects to be full after the long weekend and says its stray/lost intake is up and not the owner surrenders.

The shelter is asking people to temporarily foster dogs or what the shelter calls a “staycation”, which is an easy process.

You first can go down to the shelter located at 8315 Byrum Drive in Charlotte. There, you can choose a dog from the adoption kennels that you would like to take home through next Tuesday and sign a waiver form. You will then get paperwork and anything you need for the Staycation foster assignment.

For more information, visit animals.cmpd.org and click “adopt a pet.”
