CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A portion of a busy west Charlotte road was blocked for hours after a police chase ended in a crash overnight.
Officers said they spotted a stolen car around 2:30 a.m. near West Boulevard, and when they tried to stop the driver, he refused to pull over and began leading them on a pursuit.

Channel 9 could see the car involved in the chase upside down on the side of the road and a power pole snapped from the impact.
Police quickly took two people into custody, but their names have not yet been released. Investigators said the pair were wanted in connection with robberies in the South Boulevard area.
Police said Tobias McNeil, 17, and a 13-year-old have been charged in connection with the case.
Police said the pair robbed and carjacked a woman on Grant Martin Drive at 8:31 p.m. Sunday. At 1:10 a.m. a woman told police she was robbed of her purse at Remount Road and West Boulevard.
Then at 1:24 a.m. another person was robbed at gunpoint on Parker Drive, police said. That's when police located the stolen car at 2:30 a.m. and began the pursuit which led to the crash.
Part of Tuckaseegee Road, between Mulberry Pond Drive and Timberbrook Drive, was closed for hours while police investigated and power crews worked to fix the pole.
