CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified three suspects who were arrested after a standoff with police Tuesday in a northeast Charlotte neighborhood.
Asia Anderson, Denzel Brooks and Julian Bradley are charged with armed robbery. A fourth suspect was taken into custody, but has not yet been charged.
Anderson and Brooks will appear in court on Wednesday.
Officers said multiple robbers held up two different people at gunpoint 1:45 a.m. Tuesday on Education Way.
The victims were not hurt.
Police said the robbers drove off in a car and officers chased them for about 20 minutes before the robbers stopped on Whittersham Drive off Harris Houston Road and ran off.
A K-9 unit tracked the suspects to a home in the 10500 block of Whittersham Drive. Officers attempted to make contact with them and have them surrender peacefully. Three suspects complied with officers and surrendered without incident.
A fourth person in the home refused to comply. The SWAT team and negotiators responded to the home to help officers.
Neighbors were kept in their homes while SWAT officers tried to coax the suspect out.
Eyewitness News reporter Gina Esposito heard two booms at the scene, and shortly after the second one a person was taken out on a stretcher in handcuffs.
