CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — The Cleveland County animal shelter has reached its capacity.
The shelter has 64 dogs and 70 cats, and some animals are sleeping two to a cage, according to our partners at the Shelby Star.
Officials said there are multiple reasons for the high population, including groups that would normally rescue animals from Cleveland County Animal Shelter seeing an influx of animals from hurricane-impacted areas and suspending kitten adoptions to prevent a disease from spreading.
