CHARLOTTE — There’s a new resource for local teachers and they don’t have to go far to find it.
Classroom Central unveiled its latest tool Wednesday that will help teachers and students.
The first ever Learning Locker in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district was set up inside Nations Ford Elementary School.
Time and distance keep many teachers from accessing Classroom Central’s existing free store, so the Learning Locker breaks down those barriers.

Teacher Valda Oliver said the need for supplies is never-ending and has had to spend her own money.
“Every day. Every day,” Oliver said. “Yeah, constantly we’re out buying to make sure they have what they need.”
The Learning Locker will make a significant impact on teachers, she said.
Classroom Central, CMS, and Charlotte FC are partners in the project.
“It seems so simple, but it is so critical to a student’s success, as well as a teacher’s ability to be effective in the classroom,” said Karen Calder, the executive director at Classroom Central. “Not only for their ability to be effective but also we want to retain good teachers.”
The goal is to put 16 more Learning Lockers in CMS schools over the next two years.
