City OKs incentives for Arrival’s latest facility here

Arrival announced in December it would establish a High Voltage Battery Module assembly plant on Yorkmont Road in Charlotte. The company said the facility will create 150 jobs and include an $11.5 million investment.

CHARLOTTE — After recently announcing its plans for yet another Charlotte-area facility, British electric vehicle manufacturer Arrival has secured incentives from the city.

The Charlotte City Council gave its nod on Monday for a business investment grant for Arrival. The grant was awarded after Arrival announced last month it would establish a High Voltage Battery Module assembly plant in Charlotte.

The company has leased an 83,599-square-foot building at 2708 Yorkmont Road for the operation. Arrival will invest $11.5 million in the battery module assembly plant and expects to create 150 jobs there. The modules produced at the plant will power Arrival’s electric vans and buses.

The grant approved this week is worth up to $143,800 over the course of five years, documents state.
