City Council approves new section of Cross Charlotte Trail

Cyclist uses new section of Cross Charlotte Trail near Brandywine Road

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte City Council approved Monday to spend millions of dollars to build the next section of the Cross Charlotte Trail in north Charlotte.

City leaders voted on a $6.1 million contract to build a 2-mile stretch from Orr Road to Rocky River Road in the University Area.

A section of the Cross Charlotte Trail opened near the Park Road Shopping Center all the way to the South Carolina state line in July. The new one-and-a-half-mile stretch goes from Brandywine Road to Tyvola Road.

The city says the work will include grading, bridges, ramps, landscaping, and building the pathway. Channel 9 will be at Monday’s meeting and will provide updates as they come in.
