CHARLOTTE — Three people were shot, including a 9-year-old, at an apartment complex in south Charlotte Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene at around 12:30 p.m., where a large police presence and crime scene tape could be seen at the Granite Pointe Apartment’s parking lot on Deep Rock Circle.
Police said someone took the 9-year-old a few miles down the road to South Boulevard, near Interstate 485, to get help. From there, they were rushed to a hospital by MEDIC.
According to authorities, two of the victims, including the child, had non-life-threatening injuries. The third victim had serious injuries and was also taken to a hospital by MEDIC. The other victim took themselves to a hospital.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have not said what led to the shooting or if any arrests have been made.
“Any time someone is shot there is a concern. The main thing is to focus our resources out here, stay in our area,” said Capt. Jason Helton.

Channel 9′s John Paul spoke to one man who said he plans on leaving the apartment complex after the second shooting this month.
On May 8, police said a man, identified as Maurice Paige, 29, was shot to death.
“My plan is to move out next month,” the resident said. “Because of the fear of these young people with these guns, automatic weapons. Bouncing off here and bouncing off there, hitting kids, young innocent people.”
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact 704-432-TIPS.
