CHARLOTTE — Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were shot serving a warrant late Friday afternoon in northeast Charlotte, the department confirmed.
Both officers were rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, CMPD said.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom was over the scene of Headquarters Farm Road near North Tryon Street. Dozens of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department vehicles lined the streets. Charlotte Fire and MEDIC also responded.
Neighbors in the area said they heard loud gunshots.
“It was about two to three shots. Then I heard helicopters, sounds like on top of my house,” said resident Shalya Alexander.
Another resident said it’s typically a quiet neighborhood, and the large police scene was considered unusual.
“We’ve been in here for a year, never seen anything like this since we’ve lived here,” said resident Melissa Schreurs.
Officers were serving a warrant at a home in the Withrow Downs neighborhood. The suspect had committed violent offenses, CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said at a media briefing shortly after the shooting.

“It’s someone we had been looking for for quite a while,” Jennings said.
Multiple sources told Channel 9 that one officer was shot in the leg and taken to Atrium Health Main. The other officer was shot in the belt buckle and treated at the scene.
Both officers are expected to be OK.
Chief Jennings released the following statement on X:
“This evening, we had officers injured in the line of duty during an officer-involved shooting. This is a call no police chief ever wants to receive. I am deeply thankful that despite their injuries, all officers will return home to their families. The work we do can be dangerous at times, and I am grateful that the men and women of CMPD answer the call to serve and protect every day.”
