CHARLOTTE — An 11-year-old girl was shot Monday afternoon at a shopping center in north Charlotte, police said.
She was not the intended target, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Police were investigating the scene off Sugar Creek Road and Rutgers Avenue.
Family members drove the girl to a hospital and she is expected to survive.

She had non-life-threatening injuries.
