THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A child is being credited with getting her family out of their burning home safely.
The Thomasville home is boarded up and the front of the home was charred after the fire.
A girl who lived at the home was outside with friends Wednesday when they saw flames.
She ran inside to tell everyone to get out.
The home was in that family for more than two decades.
“A lot memories. A lot of memories,” homeowner Rickey Harriott said. “It goes back to birthdays. We are talking Christmas. We are talking Thanksgivings.”
Fire officials said a heater could be the potential cause, but no final determination has been made.
