CHESTER, S.C. — An entire community in South Carolina is mourning the loss of a little boy who police said was killed by his mother.
Six-year-old Jase Wise spent countless afternoons in Chester playing with friends, and made a big impact on his community with his short life.
Those impacted included the family of Linda Rogers.
“He and my 8-year-old say they were brothers,” Rogers said. “They called each other ‘bro.’ They were best friends.”
Rogers said her grandson, Noah, and Jase were often found together and smiling. The boys lived in the same apartment complex and both went to nearby Chester Park Elementary School.

According to a police report, Jase Wise was shot and killed by his mother, Mary Rosborough, in nearby Fairfield County over the Thanksgiving holiday. Police called it an “intentional act.”
Rosborough reportedly said “she wanted to send the victim to heaven.”
“That mama loved him better than life,” Rogers said. “She loved that child. I never even seen her scold him.”
The police report said Rosborough had reportedly “been struggling with drug addiction” and there was a “previous overdose about a month prior where law enforcement had to respond.”
Linda Rogers, Noah, and so many others in the community are remembering Jase and the joy he brought them in his short life.
“Jase quite frequently came to the office and I would see the little knocks on the door,” said apartment manager Wendy Sawyer. “He would motion to get that candy after school.”
Jase Wise was reportedly at his grandmother’s house in Fairfield County when the shooting happened, and the family had just finished a hunting trip.
Channel 9 has learned Rosborough had been a teaching assistant with Chester County Schools the previous school year.
Rosborough is in jail with no bond.
