CHARLOTTE — As nationally reported suicide rates and mental health issues among women and teens continue to rise, a Charlotte woman is on a mission to make resources more accessible to the people who need them the most.
Jennifer Moxley is a single mom who knows how hard it can be to access mental health care.

According to the Foundation for the Carolinas, stigma and access are the two biggest barriers to getting help.
Moxley is tackling both through her She Dreams in Color Foundation, which provides therapy for marginalized women in Charlotte.
“If you finally get the courage, or you finally get low enough to make a call for help, there shouldn’t be additional barriers, money, and insurance coverage,” Moxley said.
To help break the stigma, Moxley created a YouTube and podcast series featuring local women sharing their mental health journeys. She hopes others see themselves in the stories and find a woman to look up to.
