CHARLOTTE — A woman in Charlotte is suing a background check company after she says a potential employer got wrong information saying she had an extensive criminal history.
Amy Clark says she applied for a job at Pizza Hut last December, and a background check had to be done before she could start working.
According to court documents, she submitted the background check information, but her future employer said she didn’t provide accurate records of her criminal background. The background check had produced results claiming she was convicted of impaired driving, endangering a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
But none of that is true. Clark has no record of those convictions.
Because of those claims, Clark was delayed in starting her job and nearly lost her house because she couldn’t make payments without income.
Clark is suing BackgroundChecks.com LLC for damages, and she’s asking for a jury trial.
