CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman who was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents when she showed up for court two months ago returned to court Wednesday.
This time, there were no immigration officers, but she told Channel 9 it didn't make it any easier to be there.

Maria Cometa was accused of assaulting her ex-boyfriend, but those charges were dismissed because the paperwork said her ex filed them in retaliation after he was arrested for assaulting her teenage son.
On Wednesday, Cometa testified against her ex-boyfriend, who made those accusations that put her on ICE's radar.
“I feel not so much afraid of ICE as I am against my perpetrator, because he's the one who's filed several frivolous cases against me,” Cometa said.
Cometa’s immigration case is still pending.
Cometa told Channel 9 the case is confusing, before her attorney stepped in to keep her from saying any more.
“Hopefully, it results in a favorable outcome for Maria, but we really can't comment on the status of any hearings or anything going on with ICE anymore.”
There’s no timetable for Cometa’s immigration case, but she applied for a U-Visa, which would allow her to stay in the country, but it could be years before that's decided.
