CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte community is stepping up in incredible ways to make sure kids aren’t going hungry during this time.
Kenyotta Perry owns Ken Cooks Catering and Channel 9 caught up with her Friday as she was getting food together to deliver to at least 100 kids. Perry does this in a different part of Charlotte every Saturday.
Some of the meals come with turkey sandwiches, cookies and juice.
She could have picked any day of the week to do it but said she chose Saturdays for a reason.

“Monday through Friday they have somebody to come out and do free lunches or free dinners but on the weekends they didn’t have anyone,” said Perry. “Feeding the kids on Saturday means more to me than me making money throughout the week.”
Perry pays out of her pocket for these meals, but some of her friends on Facebook also send money to help out.
