CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte’s Tresata Inc. is stepping up to fight the novel coronavirus.

The data analytics company recently launched COVID Active Transmission, or COAT. It’s an app that combs through public data, compiles information and uses that information to predict where the next COVID-19 hot spots will be.
The app works on a county-by-county level. It is geared toward first responders, health-care organizations, government entities and nonprofits directly fighting the virus, said Brittany Box, chief sales and marketing officer.

A small team built the app in less than a week. That’s a testament to employees’ analytics knowledge they use every day, she said.
