Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops season sizzles in June

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Symphony has announced its summer season that will bring live music under the stars to communities throughout the Charlotte area.

This year’s Summer Pops series features four concerts at Symphony Park, including the popular patriotic performance “Celebrate America!” which also features fireworks.

The CSO will also perform five free concerts in Charlotte-area community parks. Each schedule is listed below.

The Summer Pops series at Symphony Park:

June 11 — The Music of John Williams

Relive the iconic themes and melodies from your favorite blockbuster films, ranging from “Superman” and “Star Wars” to “Jurassic Park.”

June 18 — Swingin’ Jazz at the Park

The symphony will celebrate Duke Ellington and the music of the Harlem Renaissance.

June 25 — Family Night at the Movies

Relive magical musical moments from some of the most popular family films including “Encanto,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Frozen.”

July 2 — Celebrate America!

Join the Charlotte Symphony for an exciting salute to America with a night of patriotic favorites and tunes that celebrate America’s unique musical traditions — all topped off with a fireworks finale.

Summer Pops concerts are held at Symphony Park at SouthPark Mall at 4400 Sharon Road. Gates open at 5 p.m. Prelude performances begin at 7 p.m. and the symphony starts at 8:15 p.m.

This year, general admission tickets will be available for the Summer Pops series in addition to a subscription package.

Pre-purchased general admission tickets for the June performances cost $15 for adults and $5 for youth ages 13–18. Tickets for the “Celebrate America” performance cost $18 for adults and $5 for youth. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free but they will need a ticket to attend.

Prices increase for day-of purchases.

Subscriptions to all four Summer Pops concerts are available and include premium reserved spaces on the lawn. Subscription prices are $200 for a Pod of 2, $360 for a Pod of 4, $510 for a Pod of 6, and $640 for a Pod of 8.

Parking at Symphony Park is free.

June 9 at 8:15 p.m. — Stumptown Park in Matthews

June 24 at 8:30 p.m. — Bailey Road Park in Cornelius

June 29 at 8:30 p.m. — Pineville Lake Park in Pineville

July 1 at 8:30 p.m. — Village Park in Kannapolis

A date for a performance at Duke Energy’s EnergyExplorium at McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville will be announced later.
