CHARLOTTE — Some talented Charlotte students are getting national attention for helping their teacher’s dog.

Providence Day School math teacher Ashley Liberto’s golden retriever was diagnosed with cancer, and the dog had to have his right front leg amputated.

The sixth-grade teacher’s students built a prosthetic leg using a 3D printer in a computer science class.

“Knowing this project would have this real-world tangible impact on a life is what really compelled me to push forward,” senior Brandon Hollis told ABC World News.

Bently is getting adjusted to having four legs again.

“My reaction when the students came up with the design was just, I was so moved, so touched by them,” Liberto said. “You know, it can change a person’s life and can change a dog’s life.”
