Charlotte scooter company to hand out helmets to promote safety

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Electronic scooter company Bird will hand out helmets along the rail trail on Monday to promote safety.

A pilot program allowing the rentals in Charlotte expired last week, but the scooters are still out on the streets.

City leaders have not yet decided on any rules to regulate them and may wait for the state to create rules.
