Charlotte man dies after crash on Highway 521 in Lancaster County, troopers say

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — A Charlotte man died after a crash on Highway 521 in Lancaster County on Sunday afternoon, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 5:55 p.m., 13 miles north of Lancaster.

Troopers said the driver of a 2019 Nissan SUV was driving northbound on Highway 521 and was stopped at a traffic light when she was hit by the driver of a Chevy Coupe from behind.

The driver of the Chevy Coupe was identified as 52-year-old Albert Walker of Charlotte.

Walker died on the way to Atrium Health Waxhaw hospital.

The driver of the Nissan SUV was not hurt in the crash.

The accident is being investigated by South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

No other details were released.
