Charlotte ranks among worst in country for gender pay gap

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte’s economy is busting at the seams; however, there is a bleak reality.

The city has the sixth-worst gender pay gap in the country, according to a new analysis from Pew Research Center.

The national average shows women earn just 81.2% of a man’s salary.

But in Charlotte, that number drops to 79.4%, a nearly $10,000 pay difference per year.
