Charlotte police say two suspects in 2016 murder are both dead

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says two suspects it has identified in a 2016 murder are both dead.

Adrian Potts was shot and killed just before 3 a.m. in the 4000 block of Collegiate Avenue near Interstate 485 in June 2016.

Now, police say Ferguson Laurent Jr. and Anthony Eugene Gill were responsible.

Laurent died in June 2017 in a controversial Salisbury officer-involved shooting.

An SBI investigation later cleared the officer after it determined Laurent shot at him first while the officer tried to execute a "no-knock" warrant.

Gill died in August in a shooting in the 200 block of South Church Street in Salisbury.
