CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Museum of History is offering free admission for the entire month of August.

The museum posted on its Facebook page Monday: “To make history accessible to everyone, members of our board of trustees have provided donations to make museum admission free for the entire month of August!”

The museum is in east Charlotte at 3500 Shamrock Drive. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Visitors can explore the museum’s six galleries which feature both permanent and rotating exhibits that highlight the Charlotte region’s history and how the community has evolved over time.

In addition, the historic Alexander Homesite sits on the museum’s grounds. The Rock House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a designated local landmark. The house is Charlotte’s only remaining structure from the days of the Revolutionary period. The grounds of the Rock House are open for self-guided tours during museum hours.
