Charlotte man wins $3M lottery with scratch-off ticket

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man from Charlotte won a $3 million lottery prize with a scratch-off ticket.

Michael Staub bought his winning Fabulous Fortune ticket at Perry’s Market in Mint Hill for $30.

At lottery headquarters, Staub could choose to receive $150,000 over 20 years or $1.8 million at once. He chose to take the $1.8 million, and after taxes, he was left with $1,278,189.

This month, Fabulous Fortune announced there were six $3 million prizes and 18 $100,000 prizes. Four $3 million and 15 $100,000 prizes are still up for grabs.
