CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte man plans to treat himself to a new Cadillac after winning the first $200,000 prize off a new scratch-off game.
Walkup bought a “The Price Is Right” ticket from Murphy USA on Ashley Road in west Charlotte this past Sunday.
“I’ve always loved Cadillacs,” Walkup said. “Now I can get myself a new one.”
Walkup is still shocked he is the lucky winner. He said he went home to catch the last part of the Panthers game and then scratched his ticket.
“I’m still having problems processing it. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before,” he said. “I’m still in awe,” he said. “It’s taking a while to sink in.”
Walkup took home $142,021 after required and federal tax withholdings. He claimed his prize Wednesday at the lottery headquarters
“The Price Is Right” game debuted this month and had four top prizes of $200,000. Three grand prizes are still out there.
