CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Knights hit the diamond in style on Saturday night.
The team wore uniforms designed by a patient at Levine Children’s Hospital that feature the Charlotte skyline lit up by fireworks.
Alex, 15, is the young patient who designed the jerseys. His occupational therapist, Suzanne Davis, told Channel 9 that when he was admitted to the hospital, he couldn’t move his arms.
“I said when I walked in here I felt like I knew a celebrity when I got here, it’s just so cool hearing his story played and everyone talk about him and see his jerseys because we know how amazing he is, how resilient he is, and how hard he’s worked to be where he is, but for everyone to get to see it is just a really cool outcome,” Davis said.
Davis said Alex has finished his therapy.
Every jersey worn was later auctioned off. The money will benefit the Arts For Life program at the hospital.
