CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Knights have spent in the range of $1 million over the last three years to create what is becoming quite the side hustle: holiday-themed days and nights at the ballpark.
Last weekend, the minor-league baseball team wrapped up an expanded, six-week version of their “Light the Knights” festival, finishing the run with total attendance of 161,000 people. That figure easily eclipsed their goal of 100,000.

Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski told CBJ, “We far exceeded our expectations. It was a wonderful event.”
Rajkowski and the Knights are already pondering adjustments for next holiday season. What’s already certain is that the big-ticket additions in 2022 — a full-sized skating rink and a 150-foot, six-lane snow tubing course — will be back.
