CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jewelry stores are also open now, just in time for shoppers to get a last-minute Mother’s Day gift.
The owner of Malak Jewelers in south Charlotte said his store had quite a few customers Saturday, but nothing close to a normal Mother’s Day sales season.

He said he’s making sure to do extra cleaning.
'We hand sanitize the cases [and] everything very frequently throughout the day. Every half an hour or so, whenever a customer comes and touches a case, this is cleaned right away," said owner Asaad Malak.
Malak said until Saturday his business had been relying on online orders.
