The Charlotte Hornets continued their Season of Giving this month with a shopping spree for local teachers.
Seventeen teachers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools shopped with the non-profit Classroom Central and Hornets players. They walked away with thousands of dollars in free school supplies before heading to Walmart to shop for their families.
The Hornets hosted a series of holiday events over the past two months. The team also surprised local children with gifts from their wishlists.
The initiative has inspired a lot of smiles.
“I’m waiting to wake up from this dream, I’m just so blessed. I get to do something that I love every day, and this is a really great way to be appreciated,” one teacher said.
This month, Hornets players also put their art skills to work as they spent quality time with children facing life-threatening conditions.
