CHARLOTTE — In this election season, at least one civic malady has been (partially) remedied: the Charlotte Hornets are debuting a jersey that uses the abbreviation “CLT” instead of “CHA.”
Beware, this is a tale of branding and logos and sports couture minutiae — and the latest iteration of the local NBA franchise rolling out matching uniform and court designs to generate fan excitement and spike merchandise sales.
The Hornets’ “City Edition” uniform was formally unveiled on Thursday, continuing a color scheme and narrative introduced two years ago mixing mint, gold and granite in tribute to the area’s financial history.
