CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The pandemic has rocked Charlotte’s food truck scene, forcing owners to be nimble to weather the ongoing uncertainty.
COVID-19 erased the Queen City’s uptown office market, where long lines at lunch were common. Gone are events such as Food Truck Friday, festivals and crowded breweries that relied on food truck service.
“I see trucks really scrapping for opportunities,” says Matt Geller, executive director for the National Food Truck Association.
The suburbs — and the dinner rush — have become the new hot spots. Still, business is way down for many.
