They also offered tours of the building and fire safety demonstrations.
The old fire department headquarters closed in 1991.
Fire chief Jon Hannan said all of their staff and offices will soon be back in one area.
"We're also building our joint communications center behind it, and we have our logistics and our arson task force about a block from here. So we've put together a nice campus here for the things we do," Hannan said.
In cooperation with the city of Charlotte, the department matched the look of the new building with the surrounding area to help with the North Graham Street and Statesville Avenue corridor revitalization project.
