The Revolution finished 22-5-7 overall a season ago while going 10-3-4 on the road. The Revolution scored 65 goals last season, averaging 1.9 per game.
Saturday’s game was the first time these teams matched up this season.
The match started at 7 p.m. and was held at the Bank of America Stadium in uptown Charlotte.
Bars, restaurants prepared for busy weekend ahead of Charlotte FC match
The general manager at a popular gathering place for soccer fans in uptown said he was overprepared for Saturday’s second home match.
“We bought extra just in case, and they still drank everything we had,” said Brandon Burton, GM at Courtyard Hooligans.
Bars throughout Charlotte’s French Quarter were ready after the huge turnout for Charlotte FC’s inaugural home game.
“We want to show other people in the city that football and basketball aren’t the only thing in the city people are passionate about,” said Gus Stamoulus, owner of Nefelie’s. “Nobody saw that coming.”
He saw a major boost in business from soccer fans coming out of restrictions from the pandemic.
“It was ridiculous,” Stamoulus said. “It was unexpected what was happening. It was good for us.”
The bars were thrilled about the boost in business but many are trying to keep up as they deal with staffing issues.
The bar owners said that challenge would not stop them from celebrating Charlotte’s home team Saturday.
