In the 2018-19 season, he was named Burnley’s Player of the Year by his teammates and supporters. Westwood scored two goals in each of the next two seasons. He made 27 appearances in the 2021-22 season but had his season cut short by an injury.
“Ashley is a versatile, hard-working midfielder who comes to Charlotte after a successful ten-year career in the Premier League, where he has been a pivotal player for both of his clubs,” said Sporting Director Zoran Krneta. “His experience at the highest level will provide valuable leadership in our locker room, and his ability as a set piece specialist will add quality in a key phase of the game.
The contract runs through 2024 with a Club option for 2025.
