Charlotte FC announces 2022 preseason, regular season schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The complete 2022 schedule for the Charlotte FC’s inaugural season in Major League Soccer has been set, the team and the league announced. On Thursday, the team also shared the preseason schedule.

As previously announced, CLTFC will travel to D.C. United on the first weekend of the season, on Feb. 26. The club’s inaugural match at Bank of America Stadium is set for March 5 against the LA Galaxy. The match is expected to eclipse 74,000 tickets distributed, which would make it the largest in league history.

Fans will not have to wait long for the club’s two matchups against Atlanta United. Charlotte FC will travel to Atlanta on March 13 and host Atlanta on April 9.

The team will host the defending MLS Cup champions, New York City FC, at Bank of America Stadium on Sept. 10. See the home schedule below.

Eight matches will be nationally televised, including the home opener, while the remaining 26 matches will be broadcast locally in English on WSOC-TV and TV-64, and in Spanish on Telemundo Charlotte.

Preseason Schedule

Charlotte FC’s preseason plans for the 2022 MLS Season include stops at Clemson University and IMG Academy and end with the historic Carolina Challenge Cup.

The team will leave for Clemson on Jan. 16 to begin a nine-day training camp. The Club’s second stint of training will happen at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL from Jan. 28 to Feb. 8. While in Florida, CLTFC will play multiple behind closed-door friendlies.

Charlotte FC’s final stop for the preseason will be in Charleston for the Carolina Challenge Cup which will see the Club play a series of three friendlies at Patriots Point, home of the Charleston Battery. On Feb. 12, Charlotte FC will play the hosts, Charleston Battery, at 7 p.m. CLTFC will take on the Columbus Crew on Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. before ending the tournament with Inter Miami on Feb. 19 at 8:00 p.m.
