CHARLOTTE — Someone was hurt during a fire Wednesday afternoon at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport that prompted an evacuation at a terminal, officials said.
According to a tweet from the airport, the Charlotte Fire Department responded to a two-alarm kitchen fire in the atrium area around 3 p.m.
On Thursday, CFD investigators said the fire was accidental and began in a restaurants hood system ventilation duct over the grill area.
Passengers were moved from the atrium to the concourse, airport officials said.
The roadway in front of the terminal was closed to traffic for emergency crews, according to airport officials.
All airport activity has resumed.

After 3:30 p.m., airport officials said the fire was contained and crews were working to purge the smoke.
Passengers evacuated were allowed back into the terminal and activity was resuming as normal by 4 p.m.
The person injured was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire is under investigation.
